Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

For the purposes of POPIA, Foreverlit Travel & Tours is the responsible party that decides how and why your personal information is processed. You can reach our Information Officer for anything in this policy:

2. The short version

• We collect the details you send us to quote and arrange your trip, plus limited technical data to keep the site working and secure.
• Essential cookies run so the site works. Analytics and marketing cookies stay switched off until you opt in, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time.
• We don’t sell your personal information, and we only share it where we need to in order to deliver your booking or where the law requires it.

3. The information we collect

Information you give us

When you use our booking or contact forms, we collect:

• Booking form: your name, phone number, pickup and drop-off points, and the date and time you need.
• Contact / enquiry form: your first and last name, email address, phone number, the service you’re after, and the trip details you describe.
• Direct contact: if you phone, email or WhatsApp us, we keep the information you choose to share in that message.

Please don’t send us special personal information (such as health, religious or political details) unless it’s genuinely necessary for a booking — we don’t ask for it.

Information collected automatically

• Server logs: our hosting provider records standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting.
• Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 4.
• reCAPTCHA: our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to tell real visitors from bots. To do this, Google collects hardware and software information and your interaction with the challenge, and evaluates it against Google’s own systems. This use is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Because reCAPTCHA protects the forms from abuse, we treat it as strictly necessary rather than optional.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies (such as local storage and tags) work in comparable ways. We use them to run the site, remember your preferences and — only with your permission — to understand how the site is used and to support marketing.

On your first visit we show a cookie banner. Non-essential cookies stay blocked until you opt in. We use Google Consent Mode, which keeps analytics and advertising tags in a denied state by default and only allows them once you consent to the matching category. Accepting and rejecting are offered as equally easy choices.

You can change or withdraw your consent whenever you like using Cookie Settings or the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some essential features may then not work. Any Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager or future Google Ads tags fire only after you opt in to the relevant category; if you decline, those scripts are not loaded.

5. How we use your information, and our lawful basis

Under POPIA we process your personal information to:

• respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote — to take steps at your request before entering a contract;
• arrange, confirm and deliver your transport or tour — to perform our contract with you;
• keep proper business and accounting records — to meet our legal obligations;
• keep the website and our forms secure (including reCAPTCHA) — for our legitimate interest in preventing abuse;
• understand how the site is used and improve it (analytics), and carry out marketing — on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

6. Who we share your information with

We share personal information only where needed, with:

• our drivers and operational staff, so they can carry out your booking;
• our email and hosting providers, which transmit and store the messages your form submissions generate;
• Google, as an operator, for reCAPTCHA and — once enabled and consented to — Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Ads;
• professional advisors or authorities, where we are legally required to disclose information.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

7. Information processed outside South Africa

Some of our operators — Google in particular — may process your information on servers outside South Africa. Where that happens, it is done in line with POPIA’s rules on cross-border transfers (Section 72), which require comparable protection or your consent. The cookie categories you allow are processed on that basis.

8. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and booking information only as long as we need it for your trip and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet business, accounting and legal requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Your cookie-consent choice is stored on your device as a record of the permission you gave, so we can honour it and demonstrate it if asked.

9. How we protect your information

Form submissions are sent over an encrypted (TLS/SSL) connection, our mail configuration is kept out of public reach, and the forms are protected by a honeypot and reCAPTCHA. The site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information.

10. Your rights under POPIA

Subject to the Act, you have the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you, and access it;
• ask us to correct or update information that is wrong or incomplete;
• ask us to delete or destroy information we no longer have a basis to keep;
• object to processing based on legitimate interests;
• withdraw consent — including cookie consent — at any time, without affecting processing already carried out;
• object to direct marketing;
• complain to the Information Regulator (details in Section 13).

11. Direct marketing

In line with POPIA (Section 69), we only send electronic marketing where you have consented or where it is otherwise permitted, and every message includes a simple way to opt out. We will stop as soon as you ask us to.

12. Children

Our services and this website are aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect the personal information of children under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will remove it.

13. Links to and content from other websites

This site links to third-party services such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Google Maps. We are not responsible for their privacy practices — please read their own policies before sharing information with them.

Our homepage also embeds a Google reviews widget (provided by Elfsight) so you can read what our customers have said. When it loads it may set its own cookies and is governed by Google’s and Elfsight’s privacy policies.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed, and we’ll flag material changes on the site where appropriate. Please check back occasionally.
